Banana, Peanut and Chia Power Smoothie

Kick-start your day with this delicious and energy filled healthy banana smoothie! This will keep the “hangries” at bay and fuel you with tons of nutrients and anti-oxidants. This is probably my favourite smoothie recipe. It has the yummy rich flavour of the chocolate, creaminess of the banana and peanut butter – but it’s healthy! You don’t need to feel guilty AT ALL with this one. I could literally have it every day. Everybody loves a good smoothie, and this healthy banana smoothie isΒ perfect after a hard workout for a boost of protein and potassium.

Did you know, that “Chia” is the ancient Mayan word for strength?

Interesting to note that raw cacao has 40 times more anti-oxidants than blueberries – POW! This is handy to us living in Nicaragua where blueberries are an expensive commodity – not to mention fresh are ones non-existent, and raw cacao is easily accessible form the local markets, winning. If you’re in need of a pick-me-up and want to get your strength and energy back, then you quite simply NEED this healthy banana smoothie.Β  If you wanted to make it vegan, simply substitute the yoghurt for more coconut milk, or just eliminate it all together.

Healthy Banana Smoothie

Banana, Peanut, Chia Power Smoothie:

Yields 2 cups

2 Fresh bananas

3 ice cubes

2 T Homemade peanut butter

1 T chia seeds

1 1/2 T Raw cacao, ground

150ml Almond / Coconut Milk

2 T Natural yoghurt

1 T Dessicated coconut

Roasted, unsalted peanuts – optional

Method

  • Throw all the ingredients into your blender and blitz until smooth
  • Yes, It’s THAT simple
  • If you want to have some extra bite to it, sprinkle some coconut and peanuts on top afterwards – yum!
